The moment I became a warrior

3 o’clock was the time
I secluded into rhyme
3:05-  I’m alive
& I’m ready to survive

I hold my pad now I’m ready
And my pen I hold it steady
Blank page is a starve
As on the heart do I carve

Letters grouped just like a herd
Cannot mean what is inferred
Put aside what you are eating
And try some spoken word

I speak to you through words
“A language of the birds”
I say this as I note
The marvel of the throat!

And the waves as they sway
You hear what I say
From distance and from near
Ah! The marvel of the ear!

As you try to make the scene
And figure what I mean
All these things combined
Make me marvel at the mind

There must be something there
A justified affair
A truth that can be found
Simple yet profound

Words are not ignored
On the threshold of your Lord
So give all that you can
With all you can afford

I impart you some advice
What you speak think it thrice
Whatever poem that you make
It should always taste of cake

I seek not to undermine
Your intellectual spine
Only add to the savor
Of my “spoken word” flavor

As my weapon struck the chord;
As the lion as it roared
My paper now my shield
And my pen- now my sword

A question

In the name of God I start
What I say, for me, is true
And among a poetic debut of art
I bring peace and blessings to you

The title of this verse I have
Thought of on a moments spur
But the meaning behind it is
Deeper than words infer

I have a question.. an intellectual stance
Our very questioning is remarkable though
This universe while in chaotic dance
Exists in us an inquiring soul

So.. I have a question.. an intellectual knot
A gate which needs to make sense
So this knowledge that I trust you've got
May enable me to climb this fence

So.. I have a question.. a metaphorical cow
Need i squash beef to acquire?
We've all been faced with prejudiced minds
But that's no reason for us to tire

We must push on and open up
And be willing to leave fallacies afar
We must open our minds and hearts
To the truth of life that we are

As humans we experience this life
Our senses and intellects through
And its remarkable to see the diversity
That we find in both me and you

As humans we are made of stardust
And consciousness the apex of things
Look how we've been made to appreciate
The beauty of space that it brings

As humans we are all concerned
With a goal which dominates him
Each one a varying purpose
For this thing we call life within

So the question I have today
With the complexities of a poetic meal
Is how can one shrug off the notion
That there exists a God that is real?

He is the One the Living
He is Powerful beyond scope
He answers our every call
When we implore Him out of hope

He is close to us, yet far
His distance causes no pain
In fact if you call you'll find Him near
Closer than your jugular vein

God is Gracious and Merciful too
God is Eternal and Can never die
Our Lord possesses many houses
besides that one in the sky

He occupies the home of our hearts
Our minds and intellects through
So when we ask a question
Be sure He'll answer it too!

Let us pray for His Grace

Oh men of knowledge
Why can't you see
Allah brings to witness
The smallest flea

So tell me how
Would be the day
We would have nothing
In our favor to say

And our hands and our feet
And our eyes and our ears
Will speak of our works
Done over the years

Tell me how'd you fare
This judgement I tell
When a date is the difference
Between Heaven and Hell

Tell me how'd you fare
When the judgement is done
And intercession won't help
Either father or son

Tell me how'd you fare
When your works will be bust
And the guilty will wish
Their bones were the dust

But we have to know
And we have to pray
That our sins are forgiven
On judgement day

I pray He emits
The sins from our case
I pray for His Mercy
I pray for His Grace

I pray He gives us
The time to amend
And the time to make him
A warm bosom-friend

Let us pray He admits us
In this Paradise place
Let us pray for his Mercy
Let us pray for His Grace

A flower

A flower grew, but by His Grace
Seeking an audience with a blessed face

This flower saw that it was right
To keep on growing despite the plight

The flower blossomed when it saw the sun
This flowers journey has just begun

A petal fell as Winter drew
This rose a symbol of my love for you

My roots

My roots
This day is special for me
Its a day worth remembering I say
Its a day to rejoice the freedoms
That we luxurioisly enjoy today
Today I remember the soldiers
Today I remembery great men
Today I am grateful for freedoms
That they fought bravely for then
To be free is an inherent right
Of all men despite our creed
The freedom to follow a faith
Is in Heaven a right decreed
So today I am happy to say
I Support our troops, our troops
Today I am happy to say
In Great Britian do lie my roots

One Day

One day on my travels
I fell asleep and dosed
I dreamt I came to the Lord and
Found that His doors were closed

His doors were closed
However I
Believe in a God
That can never die

So I journey to the crux
Of the matter at hand
My Lord untie my tongue
And my breast expand

One day on my travels
I fell asleep and dreamt
And decided that with righteousness
To have my life be spent

And this day on my travels
I wrote a poem for you
I increased in my faith
Twas inherently right, and true

As human beings it is
Within our nature to seek
To search for our Lord
And of His blessings to reap

And so I ask myself
And I begin to wonder why
The existence of our God
Through our actions we deny

One day on my travels
I fell asleep and thought
What a sublime honor it is
To have this battle fought

And on that day inside
The depths of my mind
I pray to understand
And faith I pray to find

May God bring us knowledge
And may He make our footing firm
May our path be paved with love
And His attributes may we learn

May our struggle bring us joy
And happiness all around
One day I fell asleep and dosed
But today My Lord I've found

Love for all Hatred for none

Good evening my family
May peace be your light
It is a great honor
to be here tonight

My name is Quddous
A west London kid
And my message is not
To be interpreted

it is simply beautiful
As bright as the sun
It is love for all
and hatred for none

my motto for life
to help me get through
and not only that
it brings me closer to you

See love is for all
So we shouldn't judge
regardless of faith
Regardless of grudge

Love is what binds
two atoms in one
love is the warmth
in the tea you've begun

A muslim i am
yes i do have a beard
I do not go bang
And i am not to be feared

My words are a moral
a moral to be done
i say love for all
And hatred for none

Tell me my family
If i am busy in hate
why would i spend time
through words to relate

I am grateful to you
For lending an ear
And helping you rid
Of Islamic fear

My motto for life
I'm sure you can see
Is to live a full life
in service to thee

It gives me great pleasure
To love you for Him
It becomes a worship
and frees me from sin

I can sit on the side
sipping tea as i speak
but what I've been taught
has made me complete

My family please
go home with a smile
Go home with a heart
And ponder a while

And ask if the world
Would be better run
if love was for all
And hatred for none

Meaning

I pick up my pen
And divulge in verse;
Hoping time is well spent and
My message dispersed

I would like to start this
by defining myself
I am one among many
like a book on a shelf

There is nothing special
about me in my time
except that perhaps
I do well when I rhyme

With you now I take
this journey, and pray
Let us fly on the wings
Of meaning today

If I was to tell you
that I am a Jew
How would you know
If I'm talking of you

Or if I was to tell you
A Christian I am
How would you know
Who I call 'The Lamb'

But I am a Muslim
believing in all
My belief isn't limited
My heart isn't small

So I pick up my pen
And divulge in verse;
My time well spent and
My message dispersed

What does it mean
When I say this to you
When I say I am Muslim
In my poetic debut

What does it mean
in a spiritual sense-
the grass is greener
if you get rid of the fence!

What does it mean
when I seek to employ
the use of my words
for all to enjoy

So I pick up my pen
And divulge in verse;
My time well spent and
My message dispersed

When I say you're my brother
And say it I do
I mean you are family
I mean it with truth

When I say you are family
And say it I will
The purpose of life
It helps me fulfill

When I say its my purpose
Its my purpose to serve
It brings me closer to God
And to Heaven deserve

So I pick up my pen
And divulge in verse;
My time well spent and
My message dispersed

As I close I must say
That these are just words
A spiritual rendering
a flight of the birds

As I close I must say
It's been a joy to have been
surrounded by artists
painting the scene

As I close I must say
its been an honor tonight
to explore what we share
of our lyrical plight

So I put down my pen
And ponder of verse;
My time well spent and
My message dispersed

Mercy for Mankind

Muhammad peace be upon him
Sent as a mercy for mankind
A man who was sent from above
In who God Himself we find

His character was unmatched
Morality and humanity too
Oh how do I find the words
To speak of Muhammad to you!

It only takes a while
To become aware of his life
But once we begin that journey
We see it filled with strife

All of Allah's prophets
And all of his truthful men
They were tested with martyrdom
What makes me righteous, then?

The hardships that we experience
Was a fraction of what He did
And even through the hardships
He was merciful to the kids

He said the true test of patience
Is at the stroke of a calamity
But look at how we complain
From the pain in our cavities!

He used to tend to the people
Who used to throw garbage on him
But look at how we rage
When our tempers flare within!

He faced all poverties in life
Which made it difficult to eat
Yet he was always at the table
Until swollen became his feet

He taught us of God by saying
"If you trust as the birds do
As they return with bellies full
He would also provide for you"

Through all the suffering and pain
Came a jewel more precious than all
He became a beloved among people
Who would beckon his every call

As a lover of God he showed us
The paths to worship Our Lord
And as a human taught compassion
As two bows of the same chord

We have in front an unchartered sea
Yet our destination route is paved
This sea of hardships and trials
Will cause our souls to be saved

Oh Muhammad my perfect love
May He shower blessings on you
May we strive to uphold your example
And teach as we pass through

Oh Muhammad my perfect love
What title you leave behind!
How befitting to call my love
A mercy for mankind
